The Grid Project was the final outcome for Green Expectations, a 3 year project in the Latrobe Valley, Victoria, exploring the relation between climate change, electricity production and the community.

As the lead artist for the Grid project, I developed a number of process’ and provocations for community involvement, creative exploration and discussion.
Working with the metaphors of a butterfly and weaving, I co-created with the community an installation Cocoon and a street parade Power On.
I worked with a local artist Shaun Gardner, to create the Pylon Tree, which became our central image.
The Pylon Tree was built out of old power pylons and the branches were woven by the community from wire taken from the grid. The leaves were etched with the communities hopes and dreams for the future.
